Question by Annette Popp

Can I install a water heater vent routed to the exterior wall which it is right next to?

Hi Annette,
It depends on the water heater design / type. Draft hood equipped water heaters (natural draft) have to vent above the roof, so technically you could go through the side wall, angle up, and continue above the roof. Power vented, condensing, and tankless WH can be vented through the side wall and terminate there unless otherwise specified in their installation requirements – that’s the best starting point. If you know the brand and model, go to the manufacturer’s website and search for installation instructions.

I'm selling my checkthishouse.com domain and this website.

I created it in 2001 for my home inspection business so it's a well established property with around 150 home improvement related posts. It also comes with a Youtube channel and a Q&A forum.

Website can be easily adopted for any home inspection / home improvement related business. Makes money on daily basis without even being touched, although it could make much more, I just don't have time to maintain it.

If you're an Illinois based home inspector I'll add http://homeinspectorillinois.com domain to this deal.
