Can I combine condensing tankless water heater and condensing furnace venting ?

Question by Jonathan

I have a condensing tankless water heater and a condensing furnace. The WH vents using 3″ PVC for intake and exhaust. The furnace uses 2″ PVC for intake and exhaust. I would like to combine the venting for these units, and use 1.5″ pvc pipe for intake, and 1.5″ pvc pipe for exhaust and connect both units to those vents. Is this OK to do? It seems logical.

Hi Jonathan,
You cannot combine condensing type appliances venting into one! They both require individual exhaust systems in order to operate properly.

I'm selling my checkthishouse.com domain and this website.

I created it in 2001 for my home inspection business so it's a well established property with around 150 home improvement related posts. It also comes with a Youtube channel and a Q&A forum.

Website can be easily adopted for any home inspection / home improvement related business. Makes money on daily basis without even being touched, although it could make much more, I just don't have time to maintain it.

If you're an Illinois based home inspector I'll add http://homeinspectorillinois.com domain to this deal.
